What Is
Project 236?
Dr Seuss
was challenged to write a story using 236 words to change
the way children read, so that’s just what Dr. Seuss did.
Using a vocabulary of only 236 words The Cat in the Hat was
published and has revolutionized the way children learn to
read. |
|
In celebration of the Cat in the
Hat’s 50th Birthday, the party had to be about giving the
gift of reading to kids who really needed it. In 2007, and
in honour of Dr. Seuss and his Cat, we hope to revolutionize
the way children in our country learn to read ALL OVER
AGAIN. This time, by giving them access to books. With
Project 236, we ask kids, parents, grandparents, caregivers,
teachers, librarians, and community leaders: What can YOU do
to make a difference?
Learn
more... A
simultaneous reading of Cat in the Hat will take place all
over the country - in fact the world, and YOU can be part of
it! |
