The Pyjama Foundation aims to help
the 20,000 kids in foster care and kids in crisis care in
Australia. Only 8% of foster children in Australia aged 7
achieve the minimum standard for reading and writing.
The Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Scheme promotes much
needed progress and skills in the area of literacy and learning
for young children. It aims to ignite a passion for learning and
reading early on, ensuring children in care start school with
the same advantages all other children do.
The early reading scheme involves engaging a network of
volunteers to read books and play literacy games and puzzles
with foster children on a weekly basis.
The Dymocks Literacy Foundation donates much needed books to The
Pyjama Foundation’s Love of Learning Scheme to help children in
need fall in love with reading. |
